All three routes go to the rest stop at Newcastle Produce with the difference being in the miles and hills taken to get there. The short route takes the most direct route going up Swetzer to Penryn, although it's still somewhat long and hilly (37 miles, 1700 ft climbing). The intermediate and long routes are essentially the same distance (~42 miles), but the intermediate route stays on the lower hills on Del Mar and Cowell to get to Penryn while the long route does the climbs on Sierra College and English Colony (1800 and 2200 ft climbing, respectively). The return is the same for all routes meandering on roads that parallel Auburn-Folsom Rd. The route swept will depend on weather and the ride leader's condition. Grade: D37/D42/C42.
