Opening Ceremony for New Bike/Pedestrian Bridge Ne...

Given the continuing heat, I have decided to change the start time and rest stop so that we have coffee before the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting. The ride start is now 8:30 am and the rest stop will be at Paris Baguette on the way to the opening ceremony. After the ribbon cutting we will cross the bridge and come back on the other side of the river all the way to Watt Ave bridge. This route change does cut about 4 miles off the route, but hopefully we'll all be done by noon now. Here is the revised route sheet which I have called Bridge Opening Ceremony:

Hope you will come out for this event which should be fun.

Mark your calendars for next Wednesday, Oct. 7, when I will be leading a ride to the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for the new bike/pedestrian bridge next to Business 80 over the American River. The opening ceremony begins at 10 am and the ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11 am. The ride will start at 9 am from Five Points and go down the ARBT to where we will get up on the paved levee path at Ethan Way. We will then drop down like we used to Tribute Rd. where the overflow parking lot is for CalExpo. My understanding is that is where the opening ceremony will take place. It’s not clear where the ribbon cutting will take place, but it looks like we can go back up to the levee path and take the short gravel section to get onto the new bridge (some walking may be involved if you have skinny tires). We may also have to wing it if access to the bridge is not as I had imagined. We will then cross the new bridge and go into downtown Sacramento for coffee at the Weatherstone. Here is the RWGPS link for the ride:

There is no Excel cue sheet for this route since it will only be used for this event. I have attached a PDF of the cue sheet generated from RWGPS. I have also attached the invitation for the event. While it looks to be hot next week, this should be an easy, fun ride.
