About this event
* Note EARLIER 5:30 pm START.
* Lights are needed.
* It's getting cool at night: consider a vest, and arm & leg warmers.
* We meet behind Jacks, at far end of Raleys Parking area.
Short quick evening ride from Gold River (to Hatchery 1st, then) to William Pond Park, and return. The recent "pace" has been 18 mph. I'm open to substituting the route w/ the Natomas Lake Loop if requested, per prior discussion (usually fewer deer & rabits at night compared with Rancho Cordova to Carmichael route).
Trying the earlier 5:30 pm start time to maximize daylight. Due to this being a "trial" early-start, & the recent but small core group riding at the same level & paceline (plus the recent traffic jams on Sunrise Blvd) we wait a few mins for regulars & RSVPs. Sunset forecast is 6:10p, so dark by 6:27p, meaning the return from W Pond Park will be in full darkness this week (the waning crescent moon will not help illuminate us this week).
It's also getting colder. Start temp at Jacks is 67F & ending temp is 60F. But it can be 8-12F colder on the ARBT. Now might be a good time to test out light-weight vests, arm & knee/leg warmers.
This may be our last Tue Evening ride for the year, unless folks express interest in full (dark & cold) night rides (I'm always "game"). Next week will be in FULL darkness as "Daylight Savings" will have ended (Clocks "fall back" Sun Nov 3). And the following Tue is also national "Election Day".
