Fellow Bike Hikers,
For the past 30 years or so, the Bike Hikers have assisted Eppie's Great Race, now reborn as the Great American Triathlon. For more information on the event, please see their website. We need a very quick turn-around on this opportunity so please read on.
We have two volunteer opportunities --- you can do one or both. On Friday afternoon, July 14, we need about 10 members (or friends or family) to assist with setting up the bike racks and fencing around the bike-to-water area. On Saturday July 15 we need at least 20 members to assist with capturing the bikes as the contestants switch to the water stage. Then in the afternoon when the riders return from the finish line, we assist with bike claims and finally help with tearing down the racks and fencing. It is about a six hour day starting early and ending mid-afternoon.
To volunteer, RSVP to the event in the event calendar so we can know if we have enough folks for each activity. But don't wait! We need to get back to the Great American Triathlon staff in the next week or two to confirm our ability to continue our involvement.
